WEBVTT 00:00.000 --> 00:09.080 Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of GRTV News. Today we have quite 00:09.080 --> 00:14.000 a big one to talk about because literally a few hours ago an agreement was made official 00:14.000 --> 00:19.720 and revealed to the public that the Hollywood strike is going to soon be coming to an end. 00:19.720 --> 00:24.960 The Hollywood executives and the Writers Guild of America have come to an agreement which 00:24.960 --> 00:28.680 means that this part of the strike is going to end. There's no mention about the actor 00:28.680 --> 00:34.000 side of it, the SAG-AFTRA side of the strike, but what we do know is that an agreement has 00:34.000 --> 00:38.800 been met between the Writers Guild of America and the Hollywood executives. So let's dive 00:38.800 --> 00:43.040 into that and talk about it a little bit. 00:43.040 --> 00:46.600 The Writers Strike will end soon. The Writers Guild of America has reached a tentative deal 00:46.600 --> 00:51.920 after getting most of what they wanted. So many movies and TV shows have been put on 00:51.920 --> 00:55.360 ice, delayed and even cancelled because of the two giant strikes that have brought Hollywood 00:55.520 --> 00:59.880 to its knees the last few months, and some speculated it would continue this way into 00:59.880 --> 01:04.760 2024. Fortunately, that will seemingly not be the case. The Writers Guild of America 01:04.760 --> 01:08.520 reveals that they've reached a tentative agreement to sign a new MBA after getting most of their 01:08.520 --> 01:13.080 demands met. All that remains is for the contract to be finalised and the Guild's members to 01:13.080 --> 01:16.900 vote on it, so it sounds like the people writing our favourite movies and shows will go back 01:16.900 --> 01:21.340 to work fairly soon. It's important to remember that this doesn't mean production of all these 01:21.340 --> 01:25.080 projects will start up again because the actor strike is still very much in effect, but at 01:25.080 --> 01:29.120 least the writers can finish planning the Last of Us' second season, Amazon can release 01:29.120 --> 01:34.880 season four of The Boys, and so much more. 01:34.880 --> 01:40.800 So yeah, the two key things to take from that is that yes, an agreement has been met between 01:40.800 --> 01:48.160 the Writers Guild of America and the Hollywood executives and the massive production companies 01:48.160 --> 01:54.880 that make up Hollywood over there. But the other thing to take from it is that the SAG-AFTRA, 01:54.880 --> 02:02.760 which is the Screen Actors- Screen Actors Guild and something-something-something-something. 02:02.760 --> 02:05.640 The actors and the different people and the voice actors and all those different people 02:05.640 --> 02:12.040 that come together and actually perform in the movies that we like and we watch. There's 02:12.040 --> 02:19.760 been no agreement met for that yet. So again, the Hollywood strike is massive. It consists 02:19.760 --> 02:24.080 of two major parts, which is the writers part of the writers strike and the actors strike 02:24.160 --> 02:28.560 and half of it is now coming to a close. So yeah, as we know more about this, we're sure 02:28.560 --> 02:35.200 to keep you posted and updated. We're expecting to hear more about the Writers Guild demands 02:35.200 --> 02:39.440 and all this good stuff over the next couple of days now. But as for the SAG-AFTRA one, 02:39.440 --> 02:43.040 who knows? It could be weeks away still at this point. Maybe, as those analysts are saying 02:43.040 --> 02:47.440 originally, maybe it will stretch into 2024. But either way, we can start production or 02:47.440 --> 02:51.200 pre-production could at least start on some of the movies and TV shows and all that good 02:51.200 --> 02:55.440 stuff that has been paused for such a long period of time at this point. But yeah, let us know what 02:55.440 --> 02:59.920 you think. Otherwise, we'll be back now tomorrow for the next one of the week. So until then, 02:59.920 --> 03:09.360 hope you enjoy your Monday and we'll see you on the next episode of GRTV News. Take care, everyone.
