League of Legends esports have been growing at quite an impressive rate over the past few years. Usually, one of the best ways to highlight the growth it sees is through the viewer numbers of the grand finals of the World Championship, an event that took place very recently and managed to blow the 2020 event out of the water in terms of viewers.

According to Riot, the 2021 grand finals once again broke the record for the most-watched esports event of all-time, with an average minute audience of 30,604,255 people, a 32.82% increase from 2020.

On top of this, the event also drew in a peak concurrent viewer number that managed to reach 73,860,742 people, which itself is a massive 60.33% jump in comparison to the same figure but in 2020.

As for the future of the scene, yesterday Riot unveiled the host cities for the 2022 World Championship, but did not set an exact date for the tournament just yet.
