Drake and Scooter Braun are now 100 Thieves co-owners

The latest round of funding secures big investment for the growing esports org.

Musician Drake and SB Projects founder Scooter Braun are the headline names to invest in esports organisation 100 Thieves, with the recently formed outfit securing $25 million as it looks to cement its place in the competitive scene.

100 Thieves moved into full-time competitive esports roughly one year ago, when Matt "Nadeshot" Haag expanded the reach of his apparel company with the backing of Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert. Haag has since brought Drake and Braun in as co-owners, and the likes of Advancit Capital, Drew Houston, Green Bay Ventures, Marc Benioff, Sequoia Capital, Tao Capital, and WondrCo have all come on board with their own investments too.

The team will now look to expand behind the scenes, and the money is set to be invested in building up the content team and bringing in new players as 100 Thieves looks to carry on competing with the old guard across the various rosters they currently employ.

"With Drake and Scooter's support, we're going to build a lasting brand on the back of the content and apparel that our fans have come to love, aggressively expand into more games, scale our apparel business, and build a world-class management team," Haag explained.

100 Thieves currently has teams involved with League of Legends/League of Legends Academy, as well as Fortnite, Clash Royale, and Call of Duty. With this additional backing secured, it'll be interesting to see in which direction the company looks next.
