In a few short days, Riot Games will be starting the 2022 League of Legends Championship Series, when the Lock-In tournament begins. Set to see all ten teams from the league compete, the event will serve as a way to get the new year of competition into first gear, with teams competing for 100% of the share of a $150,000 prize pool.

Even though this event is set to start on Friday, January 14, Riot has recently revealed that the tournament will now be played online and remotely, due to surging Covid-19 cases. Mentioned in a statement on Twitter, Riot said, "Due to the rising number of cases of COVID-19 in Los Angeles since the beginning of the year, teams will compete remotely during the group stage of the LCS Lock In tournament."

As part of the statement, Riot did affirm that it will "reassess the situation going into the knockout stage", which does suggest that there may be some LAN play during the tournament.

With the tournament set to start at 22:30 GMT / 23:30 CET on Friday, you can catch all the action as it unfolds here.
