LCS players association gets new rule for roster deadline safe harbor

This means that players have the chance to find new teams if they get released on the eve of the deadline.

The League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) in North America is gearing up to start its first matches next week, but before that comes we have good news, as the NA LCS Players Association has taken to Twitter to announce a rule change they've been fighting for, which all has to do with signings.

"We are excited to announce a new LCS rule we hope will prevent a repeat of the problematic situation during summer split where Fenix, @AltecLoL, & @AdrianMaLoL were released on the eve of rosters being locked without enough time to find new teams," the announcement reads.

"The new rule provides a roster change deadline safe harbor, with the deadline to sign with a new team extended by three days for any player released from a team roster within 48 hours preceding the roster change deadline. Kudos to @DarshanU for his heavy lifting in getting this new rule."

We have CLG's Darshan 'Darshan' Upadhyaya to thank in part for this, and this should hopefully be fairer on teams in these sorts of situations.

Do you like this rule change?
