With the League of Legends European Championship Summer Playoffs almost here, Riot has taken the time to announce that Mastercard will be the payment partner for the event.
Mastercard, who is already a sponsor of the league, will be extending its partnership with the LEC to include it as the finals partner of the upcoming event, but also as the finals partner of the 2022 Spring and Summer LEC Playoffs.
This deal will even see Mastercard sponsor a new Play of the Week segment during the Summer Playoffs.
"Mastercard has become a staple when it comes to professional League of Legends partnerships and we are beyond excited to have them join the LEC family," says Zeynep Gencaga, senior manager, business development and partnerships, Europe & MENA, in a press release. "Their dedication and passion towards delivering top notch content will play an important role in taking the LEC finals fan experience to the next level."
The LEC Summer Playoffs will be starting later today, with the top three teams at the end of the event qualifying for the 2021 World Championships.
