Johanna Faries has become quite the influential figure in Activision Blizzard over the past few years, even appearing at the Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live! show to promote the latest season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War/Warzone. Known for role as the head of leagues at the company, Faries oversaw a lot of the happenings around the Overwatch League and the Call of Duty League, but has seemingly now taken a step back from that role.
The information comes via a report from the Sports Business Journal, who revealed that Faries has been absent from a lot of the recent team owner monthly meetings that take place with top members of Activision Blizzard. And the reason for this is because she has reportedly taken a step back from the position to focus on the development of the Call of Duty franchise exclusively.
There's no official statement from Activision Blizzard on the matter as of yet, but SBJ was told that "Johanna will still be involved with the Call of Duty League, as the game and its esports are one connected ecosystem".
As for who will be taking over Faries responsibilities, Brandon Snow has seemingly been promoted to the role, although that has also not been officially revealed by Activision Blizzard yet.
