Hi-Rez Studios has detailed a bunch of the plans for Smite World Championship, a postseason tournament set to find the best team and players the esports scene has to offer. Set to take place between January 6-9, the publisher has also revealed the plans leading up to the major event.
The Smite Pro League's third phase will run up to October 29, when a Group Stages event will be held, determining the teams competing in the Phase 3 Playoffs on November 19. Once this tournament has concluded, teams will be thrust into the Smite World Championship Placement Round between December 14-19, to sort out the seeding and format for the actual world championship in January.
The world championship itself will also feature a $400,000 prize pool that will be split among the top two teams at the event. First place will take $300,000, with second place earning $100,000.
The Smite World Championship will be preceded by the Hi-Rez Showcase, detailing all of the new things the publisher and its teams has to offer for the coming year. That will be set for January 6 at 20:00 BST / 21:00 CEST.
